FALL PLAY-DOH + 5 LITTLE PUMPKINS

CHANGE SLUG TO “fall play-doh”

Camden is obsessed with Play-Doh. And when I say that, I don’t say it lightly. I can give him one tub of dough and a couple little toys and he will play for hours. He will literally play with it until that can is completely crumbly.

I’ve been itching for fall. Being from Utah and living in Arizona really makes me miss autumn.

The crisp air.

Fall boots.

Crunching leaves.

And those colors that can make anyone swoon. I just miss it.

This time of year I get nostalgic and long for those feelings that come with autumn.

So I decided to make fall + Camden’s love for play-doh collide.

We made apple and pumpkin Play-doh. Not only did Tylee and Camden love it, but it brought yummy smells to our home. I just took our normal Cream of Tarter dough recipe and threw in some apple spice and pumpkin spice.

I paired it with this 5 Little Pumpkins book and it was a great way to spend the afternoon.

Apple Spice Play-Doh Recipe:

Ingredients:
  • 1 c. flour
  • 1 c. water
  • ¼ c. salt
  • 1 Tbsp. vegetable oil
  • 2 tsp. cream of tarter
  • 3/4 tsp. Apple Pie Spice
  • Food Coloring {I like the gel kind, but either works. Just add enough to get the desired color}
Directions:
  1. Mix all ingredients in a pot until combined.
  2. On medium heat stir continuously stir until it starts to get a little bit clumpy. Continue to stir until it’s one big clump of dough.
  3. Take off heat and knead by hand.
  4. If dough is sticky, use a little flour on your fingers + table while your kneading – if dough is too dry use a little cooking spray on your hands.
  5. Store dough in an airtight container.
