Fun Challenges

Looking for some fun family night ideas, these fun challenges are the perfect way to pass the time and connect with your family. If you test out one of these a month, you’ll have enough fun challenge ideas to keep you busy for the rest of the year.

Fun challenges with kids

During our first years married, we were on a strict budget which is a fun challenge in itself {wink!} It forced us to look into creative ways to spend time together and it opened up a world of activities that maybe we wouldn’t have tried otherwise. Check out all our fun challenges. Some we’ve tried and some are on our list.

Fun Challenges At Home

I always find our family needs a good idea when we don’t have any outside the home activities going on, like sports. Having some fun challenges that you can do at home is a great way to entertain your group.

  • 1-2-3 Game: This game is easier to watch/listen to than it is to read instructions. It’s a 2-player game and you both think of a word. On the count of three, you both blurt your word. You will then take the 2 words you both blurted and think of a one-word word that connects the two ideas. For instance, “doctor” and “tooth” could lead to “dentist”. You keep saying words until you reach the same word blurted. You can’t repeat words that have already been said.

Couple Challenges

We are always looking for fun challenges for date night ideas. These challenges for couples make date night easy. If you want a good laugh, put these to the test.

  • Git Up Challenge: We did this dance challenge years ago. I’ll have to bribe Brandon to do a remake. It was really fun. Feel free to watch. There are quite a few tutorials on YouTube on how to learn the dance. It’s a fun memory for us. And it is fun to see how far my video skills have advanced – like why did I make it black and white…. no idea?
  • ICKS Challenge: I can’t stop laughing at these. Make a list of small funny pet peeves – or icks, we don’t want to start a marriage war here. Slap a video voice filter on and read them to each other. This was so fun we even made a part two.

Fun Challenges For Kids

Most of these are funny pranks, but they’re easy and kids love them. Tylee tried the water balloon prank on Brandon and he got her back with the

  • Water Balloon Prank: You’ll need a couple of balloons with air and one filled with water. Tell your subject not to flinch and pop the empty balloons over their head from behind. Make comments about whether they flinch or not. Then get your water balloon and pop that one last, boom – they get wet and you get a laugh.
  • Spoon Slap & Mop Water Prank: Pour a little water in front of your kid. Give them a wooden spoon or something they can try and whack you with. Tell them to try and hit your hands before you can wipe up all the water. When you say “go” throw the towel over their eyes and pull them by their feet over the water. You win! You wiped up the water before they hit you.

Easy Fun Challenges

I love a good easy challenge I can give to the kids when they come to me saying they’re bored. Here are a few of my favorites.

  • Keepy Uppy Challenge: This one is simply trying to keep a balloon in the air. You can only tap it up once and then the next person needs to hit it. Try to keep it in the air as long as you can.
  • Drawing Blindfolded: It’s as easy as it sounds. Set a few requirements and throw on a blindfold.
  • Drawing Above Your Head: Give everyone a topic or an item to draw and they must draw it while holding the pen and paper on top of their head.

Fun Challenges With Food

Who doesn’t love food? Everyone loves a good food challenge. Give one of these a try.

  • Donut Eating: This one is a typical group activity. Tie a string to the ceiling long enough for someone to reach a donut tied to the end of it with their mouth. Each person playing gets a donut and the first one to eat their donut from the string wins.
  • Fruit Roll Up Challenge: We played this when we were living in a tiny duplex house. We barely had any room to walk around. It is so fun to rewatch the video.
  • Tortilla Challenge: Everyone fills up their mouth with water – don’t swallow! Take a tortilla and take turns slapping each other with it. Try hard not to spew the water. It’s hilarious.
  • Jelly Bean Challenge Game: You’ll need to grab this game for this one. But it’s easy to play and it’ll have you lauging.
  • Try Idaho Spud or other local Candy: Is your town or state famous for anything? We live in Idaho where Idaho spuds {potatoes} are common. There is a candy called and Idaho Spud and of course we had to give it a try to see if it was worth the hype.
  • Blindfold Food Challenge: This is a fun one. Have everyone put on a blindfold and take turns making them taste different foods. Make sure to get something sour, sweet, spicy, etc. Be sure to check for allergies before attempting this one.
  • Chubby Bunny Challenge: Take turns putting marshmallows in your mouth and saying chubby bunny. Make sure you don’t swallow and the first person to spit out the marshmallows loses.

Group Challenges With Requirements

If you have a group event, these are easy fun challenges for parties.

  • Guess the Lyrics: You need a pool for this one. You have the player lean backwards over a pool or body of water. They’ll hold onto a towel while someone holds the other end {keeping them out of the water}. Play a song and pause it, the person playing then has to sing the rest of the lyrics. If they are wrong, the person holding them up will let go of the towel. The player then falls into the water. If they guess/sing them correctly, they are pulled up to safety.

Have fun trying out these funny challenges and make sure that you’re following us on Instagram for more daily fun.
