On top of that, our kids would complain about helping. I was about to throw everything away. We needed change. Enter our new Kid Chore System.
Chores & Responsibility Systems for Kids
Three years ago I decided to create an easy system where the kids would have a “job”. Just like grown ups. When kids do their job, they get paid. If they don’t, well they don’t. But if they do a good job, they might get a potential bonus or reward. The only catch was – no complaining or they don’t get ‘paid’ for that day.
It’s a system that finally works for us. Customizable Responsibility Checklists. Just fill out each line with the tasks that you want them to accomplish each week by each child. Best part is, you don’t have to choose the same tasks every week {or you can, if that works for you}. This kid chores or responsibility charts are a way for kids to learn responsibility and learn how paychecks in the real world work.
Choose a Responsibility Reward in your System
Decide on a reward that fits your child AND your budget. The good news is, kids are pleased with most anything. Are you on a budget? {Hello Dental School Students 😉 we get that for sure} – get creative. Plan a date where kids make their own cupcakes, choose a gas station snack, or do $2 a day {pick what works for you!}. At the end of the week – PAYDAY! That’s when they get their reward for the week AND the next responsibility checklist.

Grab your FREE PRINTABLE and swap out the {name} for your own child’s own name or use the general design provided. Print 5×7 notebook tablets printed at a printing company like Shutterfly for around $8 or just print a few pages for the month and staple them.

BONUS: Next, I had these Poster Size Prints (18×24) that I had laminated and I’ll use wet/dry erase markers to write the responsibilities. We keep the trackers for the kid chore system where we can see them every day.
