A few weeks ago we were lucky enough to get to go to California and stay at the Legoland hotel and visit Legoland California. I’ve gotten quite a few questions about what we thought and if it was “worth it.”

Here’s our thoughts:

THE HOTEL:

THE UPS:

  • Overall it was awesome
  • The breakfast was incredible – you’re talking omelet bar, fruit smoothies, chocolate pancakes, you know – the works
  • It is very kid friendly
  • The lego pits {basically a ball pit, but with legos} were great for the kids. It kept them busy while we were checking in, getting stuff ready, and just a great place where the kids {and dads – ha!} could be entertained
  • They had nightly plays that were very interactive with the audience – those were super cute. I wish I would’ve gotten some video clips
  • They had a treasure hunt every night where the kids could get new legos {that was one of the favorite highlights!}
  • Also the Lego sculptures around the hotel were so fun to see
  • We had a Kingdom themed room {you could choose from Pirate, Kingdom, Friends, Ninjago, & Adventure } and it was ironic that we had a Griffin as our room mascot? is that what you’d call it. Anyway, it was pretty cool.
  • It was pretty great to be right by the park too. Since we have a newborn that was ideal. If I needed to go back into the room, it was easy to just walk back in.

THE DOWNS:

  • The pool — eh! It wasn’t impressive. We went in the “off season” {winter} and they had told us it would be heated. It was pretty cold to me, but that could just be because I’m a wimp. And it wasn’t anything special. It was just your average hotel pool with a few foam lego bricks in it. I wish they had put a little bit more thought and creativity into the pool. I mean, the kids did have fun, but it could’ve been a little more thought out.
  • The price — For what you get I feel that the standard rate is a little over-priced. It’s fun to have everything Lego, but I don’t know that I would pay the standard rate that they charge.

Would we go back and stay there again?! Yes, if we found the right deal. In my honest opinion, I don’t think that I would pay full price for the hotel, but I’m kind of a tight wad when it comes to that. But you can always find a good deal {usually!}, so yes, we would definitely go again and stay there. And plus, I’m already missing the yummy breakfast smoothies.

{These buildings are all made out of legos – WHAT?!}

THE PARK:
Okay, the park was fun! The kids loved the rides. I think it’s geared towards younger kids, so it was perfect for our kids ages {7, 3, and newborn}. Thoughts on the park:

The Ups:

  • The rides were fun
  • It wasn’t very busy – we went during the off season
  • The playground parks inside the park itself were incredible. {I told Brandon if we lived closer I would get a season pass just to have access to these}
  • The lego sculptures were AWESOME! I can’t even describe them. Seriously, there were SO many legos used
  • Tylee’s favorite ride was the Dragon

Camden says he loved the horse ride on the carousel the most {but let’s be honest here, he loved them all and just spouted off the first thing that came to mind when I asked him his favorite}

The Downs:

  • I was sick! – need I say more?! I had a nasty head cold and cough
  • It was a little cold. We just needed jackets, so it was okay, but usually when you go to Cali – you want it waaaarm! So this was a little bit disappointing.
  • Like I mentioned, I feel this is a park geared towards younger kids. I’m not sure how much fun teens would have here.
  • They wouldn’t let Abigayle on ANY rides. I get she’s an infant, but I mean in Disneyland you can take the teeny tots on the smaller rides – they didn’t let anyone under a certain height go on the rides – this was a little frustrating because we couldn’t go on any rides as a family, we had to split up every time.
  • Food – it’s expensive & they barely give you any… we got some apple fries at a little shop and they were really yummy, but I felt like we paid an arm and a leg for like 3 fries {maybe an exaggeration, but still} so take my advice and bring in yo own food!

THE BEACH

Since we were already in California, of course we hit the beach. It was a little chilly so we ended in a dog pile snuggled in our towels – I didn’t mind.
Tylee wanted to swim, what’s new?! So she got as wet as we would let her 😉 and Brandon had fun flying his drone around.

The first thing the kids always do when we get somewhere is ask for snacks. Usually I keep a couple in our bags, and of course when we are going somewhere for the day, I usually have quite a few – something about getting to the place you’re going makes you hungry.

We were lucky enough to have BEAR send us a really cute package. At first I was like, okay, what can be so special about fruit rolls? But hear me out, these are great!!! We seriously love them.

And get this, they come with a cute little card in it that has a country on it. You can send in the barcodes and BEAR will send you a fun map with stickers and you can keep track of all the different countries that you’ve got.

In the fruit roll you get a WHOLE cup of fresh fruit. They don’t take out any of the vitamins, minerals, or fiber, and they don’t add any of the yucky crap – added sugars, concentrates, or preservatives. They are so great for our on-the-go family and as BEAR says – “they are grrrrreat”

These snacks will definitely go into our book of favorite snacks! They’re good and good for you! You can snag some here and use the promo code “20BEARYOYO” for 20% off.
