We’ve been wanting to do a Choose Your Own Adventure card date idea that’s been floating around on social media. And our oldest daughter has been working so hard and doing so well in school that we decided to surprise her with a mother daughter version of the date idea where she could choose the adventures.
HOW THE MOTHER DAUGHTER DATE IDEA WORKS:
Keep in mind that this idea works for all ages and genders. Father & son? Perfect. Want to do it as a mother and son date night. Again, perfect! How about with your spouse? EVEN BETTER. Just make sure to choose a budget, then choose the list ideas that you would want to do, and make some cards to go along with it. You could get creative and make this idea completely free.
I picked a total of 5 activities & dinner that we would do throughout the day so that we could make a full evening out of it. All our her favorite activities – 2 of each that were similar – so essentially I picked 10 total options. You hold out 2 of the cards with similar options without letting them see and they pick one. Whatever they pick is what you go do.
OUR MOTHER DAUGHTER DATE NIGHT PICKS:
- Starbucks or Jamba Juice: She picked the Starbucks card: She got a Dragonfruit lemonade and I have a new obsession with the Pink Drink Refresher – I’ve gotta figure out how to make them at home.
- Matching Hoodies or Matching Sneakers: She picked Matching Sneakers: These are the sneakers we chose.
- Claire’s (jewelry) or Bookstore: She picked the Bookstore and I let her pick out one new book. Also we ended up ordering it because it was way cheaper online and we didn’t need it immediately. This is the book she chose. They are some of our favorite spins on the classic fairy tale books.
- Ulta or Bath & Body works: She picked Bath & Body Works, and we picked out a few scents of lotion that were on their current sale.
- Johnny Carino’s or Red Robin: She chose Johnny Carino’s for dinner.
All in all this was one of our favorite mother daughter date night ideas. There is so many different ways that you could do this date, but we highly recommend doing it. It was so much fun and not one that we will forget anytime soon.

- Get a snack: pretzels, ice cream, donuts, cupcakes, soda shops & cookies, french fries, pick out something from a gas station.
- Activities: roller blading, go see a movie, laser tag, bowling, top golf, arcade machines, photo booths, painting places

- Make cupcakes or cookies
- Face paint or makeovers
- Nintendo Night or Movie Night
- Art Hub for Kids YouTube Channel – search anything you want to learn how to draw and you’ll be amazed at the selection they have.
- Bubbles or Chalk
- Nerf War or Lazer Tag – This one isn’t free if you don’t have the guns already. But if you have kids, GET THE GUNS!!! One of our very favorite activities – ever!!! Well worth the price. They recharge so no extra batteries. I can’t say enough good about them.
