GIVE HAPPY

“If you’re going to give – give happy!”

I hope my kiddos will always remember this while serving others.

You know those moments that you really, I mean REALLY just want to remember. The ones that are so priceless, yet you just can’t describe them the same way they played out. That was this.

Camden went ice skating for the first time, Abigayle said “EEEEE” for “cheese” as loud as her little body could muster, and Brandon and I got to take a quick little spin around the rink without kids for just a few much-needed moments.

It all sounds pretty insignificant. But those little “insignificant” moments are actually the ones that made this night so special.

Phoenix, Arizona isn’t exactly known for snow. And I don’t exactly love the snow. But I’ll let you in on tiny bit of a secret, IF you promise not to mention it to Brandon. I kind of, sort of, maybe just a little bit, miss the snow.

There, I said it.

Me. A hater of the cold. I miss the snow, I miss that little chill. I miss getting warmed by hot cocoa, and I really miss standing next to a fire place and feeling that warmth seep into your clothes and spread all the way down to your toes. I guess it’s safe to say that I do miss REAL winters.

When I found this little outdoor ice rink – YES OUTDOORS, we had to go check it out.

We picked out THE perfect winter clothes for each of the kids from Gymboree. Living in desert doesn’t require bundling up very often, so it was extra fun to have an excuse to shop for the perfect cozy, winter outfits needed for ice skating.

Not only that, it helped get us in that festive winter mood.

And it was exactly what I was hoping that it would be.

It was magical.

If you ever visit Phoenix/Mesa in the wintertime – you really have to check it out. It was a decent admission price, it included the skates, and it was the perfect setting and experience. It was the perfect way to jump in the holiday spirit and enjoy time together as a family.
