DIY Tie-Dyed Sweats

Recently, we went on a fun friend, but more like family, trip. The girls all brought some sweats and we broke out the tie-dye to make our own DIY Tie-Dyed Sweats! They turned out so cute and we learned a couple tricks along the way.

How to DIY Tie-Dye Sweats

This tie dye project is super easy and you don’t need anything fancy to do it. You can grab any white clothes from Amazon or Walmart {honestly you can do any color, but we didn’t test the other colors}.

These are the sweats I {Camille} got. I decided to get a Men’s Small hoodie so that it would be baggy and the oversized look. The pants were a tiny bit more fitted, but not tight at all. They are super soft and comfortable.

You’ll want to grab some RIT dye. We used the Pearl Gray Color. And You should use Color Stay, but we didn’t get it in time so we used white vinegar instead. Make sure to have some Rubber Band elastics and a bottle and that’s pretty much all you need.

We mixed about 1 and 1/2 spoonful of dye with about 12 oz water. The more dye concentration, the darker the colors will be.

Grab random sections of the clothes and secure with rubber bands and then pour the dye onto the clothing. Let it soak in. You’ll use more dye than you think you will. We used about 12 – 15 oz on each item. Then let them soak for about 30 min. Use the vinegar or Color Fixative and let soak for about another 30 minutes before you wash your items. Make sure you don’t wash with anything else or you’ll probably stain it.

Wash your sweats and voila!

Let me know if you have any questions. HAVE FUN!!!
