Easy Burritos: The Story behind the ‘5’

Brandon’s mom made this chicken burrito recipe when we were first married. I immediately added it to our own recipe book. We’ve been making it ever since. It’s such an easy prep and usually the ingredients are already in our pantry. It’s a no brainer on the days where we have a ton going on and need an easy recipe.

These burritos are a crockpot recipe. I’m sure you could find a way, through Google, to convert it into an instant pot recipe. We love the flavor of the slow-cooked version. I haven’t found a need to switch it up for our family, yet. We’re generally on the go, so dumping in the crockpot and basically forgetting about it until dinner time is a game changer for our busy family.

How to Make Easy Chicken Burritos:

First, make sure to have a crockpot, the 5 ingredients that the recipe calls for. Then grab some tortillas, and whatever toppings your family likes to have on their burritos. We have our favorite suggestions listed in the recipe. But we love sour cream, cheese, limes, cilantro. Make sure to grab some tortilla chips. You’ll want to make nachos with the leftover burrito filling.

The ‘5’ Burrito

Easy, delicious chicken burritos in under 5 minutes to prep, using only 5 ingredients.
Prep Time 5 minutes
Cook Time 6 hours

Equipment

  • Crockpot

Ingredients
  

  • 3 tbsp Taco Seasoning
  • 4 medium Frozen Chicken Breasts
  • 8 oz Salsa {We like the mild Pace salsa}
  • 1 can corn
  • 1 can black beans {drained}

Instructions
 

  • Add all ingredients into the crockpot
  • Cook on High for 4 hours
  • Shred and mix together
  • Cook on low for another hour or so to let the ingredients blend
  • Keep Crockpot on warm until ready to eat
  • Serve in your favorite taco shells or tortillas with your favorite toppings
  • We like: sour cream, cilantro, lime & cheese for basics
  • Use any leftovers to make nachos or quesedillas
