The Second White Dress | Tylee’s Baptism

I am super excited to tell you a few details about Tylee’s Baptism – or The Second White Dress.

As much as I hate to say this, I don’t remember too much about my own baptism. I wanted to do everything I could to remember and help Tylee remember her special day when she is old and sitting in her rocker, sipping lemonade, and remembering the good ol days.

I made this little video with one of my all-time favorite songs to show just a few of the highlights.

Here are a few things that we did to help this. We found some special gifts and we also wrote things down along with taking a few too many pictures.

Oh. The. Feels.

I HATE that saying, but it’s pretty accurate for this day. I won’t write them all in here – I have those saved in my personal journal. But it was a great day. One I will remember forever.

Tylee made the choice that she wanted to get baptized and become an official member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. Anyone 8 or older can make this decision and she turned eight years old in June.

I am so lucky to have a worthy husband {Tylee’s father} that is able to perform these ordinances.

We decided to make a fun trip out of it and drive from Arizona to Utah and she could be baptized closer to more family members.

Just a few facts about her baptism:

Her grandfathers gave talks. Grandpa Bales about the Holy Ghost, and Grandpa Griffin about baptism. They each gave her a special gift – a shiny 2010 year penny to remember becoming clean and a little charm bracelet to remember the Holy Ghost.

Granny Bales and Great Grandpa VanOrden said the prayers, and Grandma Griffin played the piano.

ALL of her cousins were able to come. This was a huge highlight for Miss Tylee Anne.

THE GIFTS/SPECIAL THINGS:

Grandma & Grandpa Griffin got Tylee her very own set of engraved scriptures with a super cute case.

I found this cute, inexpensive bookmark with the baptismal covenant on it to help her remember the promises made.

Here is the program I created for the occasion.

These scripture pencils are perfect for kids because they don’t bleed and it’s easier to correct mistakes as well as it won’t ruin clothing or anything else. Plus the colors are super fun for color-coding verses.

This little activity book was just for fun, but it also helps you remember the steps to becoming more like Jesus.

I debated over and over whether I should get her a nice CTR ring. She isn’t very good with jewelry, so I opted out. But then at the last second I found this ring for under $15 bucks! I really liked this one as well. Talk about score!! Super cute, but if she loses it I won’t lose it {referring to my cool} 😉

This was just another fun gift. I created this cute printable with the lyrics to “When I am baptized” and attached it to this cute brown envelope {from Hobby Lobby} and then just threw in some Skittles to go along with the rainbow theme. You can grab the printable I created here!

These scripture stickers are very fun! We decided that it would be a Sunday activity that Mom or Dad help her with so that she gets them on good. It’s also a great way to teach the scripture stories. They have a few versions that you can find here.

My parents found her THE cutest bracelet that teaches about the Holy Ghost. Each charm is a different reminder on what the Holy Ghost can do for us. It came with a cute card that shows each of the meaning.

I was given this poem when I was baptized. THE THREE WHITE DRESSES. It stood out to me back when I was 8 and I wanted to pass it along to Tylee. I created this printable, which I don’t love, so I will be creating a new one soon, but I found this cute frame and put it together anyway. I’ll be updating the new printable soon.

Tylee’s aunt and uncle found this cute frame about The Holy Ghost and gave it to her.

I also made this little remembrance book to help her remember things. What’s included:

I found a 8×8 scrapbook at Hobby Lobby and cute 8×8 filler paper to put inside.

I had all the guests write a note to Tylee, their favorite scripture, their testimony, or just color a picture on pieces of paper while Tylee was changing into dry clothes. We gathered them all up and I put them inside the book. I also included little quotes, and these cute Articles of Faith. I plan to print off pictures of the baptism day and add them into the book as well. I think my favorite part is Tylee’s testimony + journal entry. I had her write all about her day {everything she could remember} as well as her own testimony at this age and put them in as well.

We had a picture cake created at our local bakery.

If you have any questions, please feel free to reach out to me. I am so thankful for all the ideas that were given to me and I would love to help anyone else out with their special day if I can.

XO
